Exhibition Overview:
Launched in 1980, The Big 5 in Dubai is one of the largest and most influential construction and building materials exhibitions in the Middle East. It covers a wide range of sectors, including building materials, hardware and tools, ceramics and sanitary ware, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), and construction machinery. The previous edition attracted 3,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries, with more than 22,000 attendees and an exhibition area exceeding 100,000 square meters, cementing its status as one of the largest and most far-reaching trade events in the region.
Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, serves as the financial and economic hub of the Middle East. Thanks to its liberal economic policies, prime geographical location, and comprehensive infrastructure, it has become a vital transportation hub and a major trade center for the region. Its central position allows it to directly influence end markets across the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, seven West Asian nations, as well as countries in Africa and Southern Europe—ultimately reaching a global population of 2 billion.
The total value of real estate projects currently under development across the GCC countries is estimated at approximately $1.53 trillion through 2026. The UAE accounts for 61.5% of this total, with projects valued at $940.5 billion—the highest among all GCC nations. According to research by The Big 5, the population of the Gulf states is projected to grow from 35 million to 60.2 million by 2050, driving the expansion of construction and infrastructure and fueling the ongoing growth of the building sector. Local supply of construction materials falls short of market demand; for instance, 60% of construction projects rely on imported stone and tile products. Furthermore, under UAE building regulations, all structures must undergo both interior and exterior finishing, with finishing costs typically accounting for more than 50% of the total project value. Dubai and the United Arab Emirates serve as an excellent gateway for China to access markets in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Dubai’s diversified economy and strategic geographical location offer a wide range of opportunities for Chinese trade and investment.
